Beads

Week 3 of our Mother Goose Time’s “Going on Safari” theme was all about Life in the Grasslands.

Here’s some of the things we covered on Bead day.

^ Circle Time activities! We talked about what we can make with beads.

^ Our first activity was Letter Beads. We used beads with one of our letter flags. We’d cover it with beads, name the letter and then repeat the sound of the letter as Miss M would remove one bead at a time.

^ We also practiced our patterns using our shape design mat and our shape beads.

^ Miss M also got to make a fun little bracelet using a pipe cleaner and some beads.

 

^ Concentrating so hard…

^ Our story for today was “Pretty Salma” by Niki Daly

God Is Everywhere

ExperienceGod is a Christian based preschool addon offered with our Mother Goose Time curriculum. It can be used alone or in addition to your preschool curriculum. You receive a new Experience God package each month that goes along with that month’s theme.

This month’s Experience God story is “God is Everywhere” which we’re learning about the story of “Daniel In The Lion’s Den”.

 

 

^ Experience God can be used as a daily devotional or as a weekly Sunday School program.

Each month, you’ll receive the teacher’s guide, 4 story cards, and a bible verse poster.

^ This is the theme web for this month’s story that shows all the stories we’ll be learning each week and some of the skills that the children will be learning with each activity.

Week 1 – He is by my side
Week 2 – He is in me
Week 3 – He never leaves me
Week 4 – Inside out and upside down

^ There is also an option to purchase a child pack ($5 each) which include the supplies needed for each project that are all ready to go. They’re awesome!

^ There is a coloring sheet to go along with each week’s story.

 

^ One of the crafts we made was a little lion puppet.

Giraffe

Week 2 of our Mother Goose Time’s “Going on Safari” theme was all about wild safari animals!

 

Here’s some of the things we covered on Giraffe day.

^ We talked about what we know about giraffes.

^ Circle Time activities!

^ To help us with learning our number 10, I printed out a circle time giraffe sheet from the member resources on the Mother Goose Time website and I set out some little gems for Miss M to use. I’d name a number and she’d gather that amount and put them on the paper like spots.

^ Our next activity was making a giraffe portrait.

^ I helped Miss M trace her foot and cut it out for her giraffe head. Then we glued the pieces of our Giraffe to our paper, and she used her finger and brown paint for the spots and the horns. We used some yarn pieces for a mane but she kept taking them off.

 

^ We also played a fun little Giraffe Spots game.

We talked about that all giraffes have a unique pattern of spots.

Then I set out the game and Miss M would draw a card and place that many foam oval spots on the giraffe poster. We would count the spots together to make sure they matched her card. I was very impressed that she was able to identify the number on the cards all by herself.

 

^ Miss M just loves these little animal counters we received with this month’s curriculum!

She had so much fun sorting them first by type and then by color. She’s asked to play with them every single day so far since I showed them to her.

 

^ Our storybook for today was “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae.

Dancing On Safari

One of the amazing addons that you can choose from with the Mother Goose Time curriculum is the Dance ‘n Beats program. We love it!

^ Each month, you’ll receive a DVD and a workbook that shows all the dances and has some extra activities to go along with the dances.

 

It’s so much fun and is a great way to work out the wiggles. It’s also a great way for kiddos to work on their gross motor skills.

This month, we’re Dancing on Safari!

 

Yay!

^ She tried to follow along as best as she could but for some of the harder ones she made up her own little moves.

Getting Ready For Safari

This month we’re “Going on Safari” with Mother Goose Time.

^ First we had to make our passport.

^ Miss M had lots of fun rolling the continent cube and then stamping in her passport.

^ Next, we had to pack!

^ We played the Packing List game. I placed the photos in her “suitcase” but I’d leave one out. Then I’d have Miss M try to guess which item was missing.

^ We also had to make our Safari Hat!

 

^ Miss M had fun with this one.

Our story that we read/watched was "We All Went on Safari" by Laurie Krebs

 

Celebration of Peace

Included in our Going on Safari curriculum, we received this fun Celebration of Peace celebration kit.

^ We started off with a fun Circle time song to the tune of London Bridges.

 

^ After our song, we read a story about Martin Luther King Jr that talked about who he was and what he stood for. We had a sad face and a happy face that Miss M would hold up at certain parts of the story.

 

^ After our story, we played a little matching game.

^ Peaceful Poses yoga!

^ Miss M would spin the spinner and would try to hold whatever pose it landed on for at least 10 seconds

^ Our Year of Peace calendar. This was actually kind of tricky to make. Miss M kept trying to pull her hand down the paper instead of just pressing her hand down to make a hand print so we had to try this a few times before we got a good one :)

^ We also did some color mixing. We used a paper towel, markers, and water drops to mix the colors with.
