This month’s theme is all about transportation and this week we got to learn about different
things that have to do with roads.
Our first activity was building some road art.
We sat down
and cut some black paper into strips and I used some chalk to draw the road
lines. Mother Goose Time provided us with some little paper road signs along
with straws that I cut to makes the posts with along with some little foam
circles to help them stand with. We made the little signs and Miss M had a lot
of fun setting up the road signs and pretending to drive along the roads with
the paper cars she was given as well.
We also
played construction sign. I set out some paper cones and some blocks in
different corners of our room. Then I’d encourage Miss M to run to a cone, pick
up a block, and bring it back to our “construction area”. Once all our blocks
were collected, I had her help me count and stack them. Miss M was more
interested in stacking the cones though.
We also got
to make a neat traffic sign and talk about what traffic signs are for. We
played a fun little game where I’d flip open a flap to uncover a color and we’d
dance and movie either quickly (green), slowly (yellow), or freeze (red). This
was lots of fun.
Then we got
to read our storybook that Mother Goose Time gave us with this month’s
curriculum. It is called “A Ride for Duck” and it’s a super cute story about a
duck trying to get a ride to get some foot cream because he accidently stepped
on a dangerous wire. We also tried making different vehicle sounds. Miss M had
fun making the truck and airplane sounds.
I also got out our My Little Journal along with some of our plane and train counters and Miss M decorated the front of it.
We also
played Five on the Bridge. We made a little bridge using some blocks and our
counting card. Then we pretended to drive trains onto the bridge and park 5 on
the card. We’d point to one at a time and count them.
Next, Miss M
got to make a little bridge using cornstarch noodles.
We learned
about the letter C.
And we had a
theme poster hunt.
And we also
learned about service stations/mechanics!
Mother Goose
Time gave us materials to make a cute little toolbox that Miss M loved. She ran
around putting things in it. We sat down and pretended to use our toolbox to
fix cars too.
