What's In The Box? - On The Go

Our Mother Goose Time curriculum for November is called “On the Go”. We will be learning about traffic signs, maps, and all kinds of things that have to do with transportation.

The first bag in our box was the Teacher Tool bag. Inside this bag is the theme web poster, teacher guides, gathering list, skills overview chart, manipulatives, and the monthly CD.

Each month in your teacher’s tool bag you’ll receive a Teacher Guide and a Planning Journal.

Here is a picture of the theme web for this month. It shows the different subjects that will be covered each week/day and how they relate to the main theme.

Also included is a Skills Overview chart and Gathering List. The chart shows all the different skills that the children will be performing with all the different activities. The gathering list is great too. It shows all the supplies that will be needed for the month.

Each month, Mother Goose Time will also provides fun manipulatives for the month. These are the items included in this month’s packet. Miss M loved the little busses we got with last month’s curriculum so I know this month’s manipulatives will be a big hit too. They’re so cute. Mother Goose Time includes a monthly CD in with this pack as well. Each month you’ll receive a new CD with songs that go along with the month’s theme.

The next bag was the Circle Time bag.

These tools are really great too. Inside this bag we received items like the Friendly bee hive piece, the November monthly calendar and day pieces, Global friends pictures to go along with our world map, letter flags, monthly theme poster, and lots more.

This month, we also received a Thanksgiving celebration kit. It comes with a teacher guide and a bunch of things to play games and make crafts with. It looks like it will be a lot of fun.

This month, I added the Dance ‘N Beats, Little Goose Guide, and Experience God addons to our curriculum.
Here’s a look at one day’s activities in the Little Goose teacher guide.

You’ll also be provided with a monthly family newsletter that you can give to parents of your kiddos. It shows some of the things that the kids will be learning as well as suggestions of books to read and family activities.

There are also 20 premade packets stuffed with pretty much everything you’ll need.

You’ll receive a new story time book each month. This month our book is “A Ride for Duck”.

You’ll get a new My Little Journal each month too. This month kids will be learning about the color orange, triangle shape, numbers five and six, and letters C, W, and T.

You’ll also get a new I Can Read book. In it, they’ll practice the month’s sight words and they’re displayed on the back of the book as well.

Games!! Little ones get to play lots of different and fun games to help with their learning as well. Here are some of the games that we will be playing this month.

This month we also received this super cute Rhyme Time poster for The Wheels on The Bus.

Here’s an example of one day’s supplies and activities. This is Day 4. There are so much more great things included with this month’s curriculum! In addition to all these, children will:

·         Experience over 125 activities
·         Sing and move to 30 songs
·         Create 20 of their own projects in Art, Math, and Literacy
·         Build 33 skills over 7 domains

Come join us in all the fun! December’s theme will be Sights & Sounds of Winter.

Pumpkin Patch Party!

In October, Mother Goose Time gave us an awesome little Pumpkin Patch Celebration Kit!
We put together a little party and had a blast.

These extra little kits are really great and have all sorts of things included with them. I also decided to look up some other ideas for some games to play in addition to all the great games and activities that Mother Goose Time came up with too. They also come with their own little teacher guide, invitations, thank you notes, and materials for games and crafts that can be used with a wide range of ages. Here are some of the items included with our kit.

Here’s the teacher guide

Super cute invitations!

Pumpkin Counting game

Here’s a little bag full of items for our crafts/games.

They even included a little recipe card for a snack for the little ones to make too! :) It was really yummy

The first thing we did was sit down to do a little circle time song and finger play poem. Miss M loved doing these.

Next, we played beware of the bat game. You’re supposed to play this game by hiding the cards under the paper bag pumpkins in your “pumpkin patch” you make with the kiddos. Since it was just Miss M and we hadn’t gotten to that activity yet…

I just spread the cards out on the floor and Miss M kinda just made her own game with these and the pumpkin counting game cards. She had fun matching the cats to the pumpkins. Well trying to anyways lol.

There was also a pin the patch on the scarecrow game included. We didn’t get around to playing this one but we can always do it another day :)

We were also given items to do a Pumpkin Pounding activity and Pumpkin Seed Search.

Next, Miss M put on her Halloween costume and we played a few other games that mommy came up with for our little party.

We played Pumpkin Bowling

Witch Ring Toss

Balloon Catch

And we played Halloween Eyeball Bounce

We had so much fun with this celebration kit! We’re definitely looking forward to the next ones to come.

A Closer Look at the Little Goose Teacher Guide

This week I wanted to take a little closer look at the awesome Little Goose Teacher Guide.
It’s a lesson plan supplement that is aimed at children 12 to 30 months and will help you adjust the daily lessons to make them a little more developmentally appropriate for toddlers.
It follows the same daily topics as the regular teacher guide and is meant to be used in conjunction with the Mother Goose Time teacher guide.

You use the MGT teacher guide for your opening and closing circle songs and fingerplays.

Then instead of using these activities for your toddlers…

You’ll use these ones instead!
You’ll still use the same items in your daily bags.

You will still set up your different investigation stations as suggested in the MGT teacher guide. Each day will tell you which one to set up and if you go back to the page it says (this month is pages 6 and 7),

These pages will talk more about each station and what to do with each.

Each day will also have suggestions for tray play, wiggle & giggle time, and cuddle & snuggle time.

I really love the Little Goose Teacher Guides each month. They really help me adjust activities that my daughter would have a harder time completing if we only used the regular teacher guide. I also love how it gives me ideas on how to get our wiggles and giggles out, tray play ideas, and cuddling activites. Anyone with a younger toddler (or in our case, also a younger toddler with developmental delays) using the Mother Goose Time curriculum should really check this guide out!

Animals in an Orchard

This week we got to learn about different animals that live in an orchard!

The first animal we learned about was a porcupine.

Miss M really loved making her pokey porcupine puppet. I showed her some pictures of porcupines and we talked about what might be dangerous about a porcupine (their quills). Then I set out some items that are pokey (hair brush, fork, etc) and let Miss M explore how each item feels. We talked about how porcupines have sharp quills on their body to protect them from predators (other animals who would want to eat them). Then she helped and we made our puppet!

See mom! :)
I’m glad I was quick this time and got a pic of our final product. Wasn’t the greatest, but you can see it

Aaaaand then she took the toothpicks off and thought it was really funny.

Then we watched a super cute video on Youtube of a porcupine eating a pumpkin. It makes the cutest noises!

This video is just adorable and Miss M loved it. I think we watched it at least 3 times.

Next we learned about bugs in the orchard.

We played “where is the ladybug?” and this was a big hit too. I’d give Miss M a photo card and encourage her to follow my directions I tried to give her (“raise it up, put it down”, etc). She didn’t follow all my directions but she still did pretty well. Then I got out some pieces of fruit and I’d put the ladybug under a piece of fruit and ask Miss M where the ladybug is.

She had lots of fun with this and loved playing with the fruit too and naming them. She knew apple but learned banana (nana) and orange.

We also learned about raccoons.

We got to make a raccoon mask that Miss M just loved. I invited her to come over and color the mask and draw white stripes on the tail with some white chalk. She was very proud of her mask.

Looky!

Then we played “what’s in your tree?”
First, I filled all the game board spaces with the game cards. We would take turns spinning the spinner and trying to identify the color. Miss M kept wanting to call all the colors “green” but when I would correct her, then she’d say the right color. Then we’d try to find a game color of the same color that the spinner was on and pick it off the tree. We’d continue to spin and remove the game cards until they were all gone.

We found another video online about a mama raccoon teaching her baby to climb a tree.

Another really good video that Miss M thought was hilarious was this video I found of the top 10 funniest raccoon videos.
